I am not a fan of GMO, genetically modified organisms. They have been used for corporate profit at the risk of injury and death to the consumer and environment. This Ted talks subject is a unique case where genetic manipulation can potentially restore creatures we have inadvertently destroyed. The big difference, as I see it, is restoration rather than manipulation and creation of things that should NOT be part of our environment because they cause damage and death. It is a complex topic with lots to think about. If we choose to have de-extinction, it must never be used as a justification for gmo plants and animals. It is a horse of another color! This talk is very worth hearing.
