The Taking Of America 1 2 3

THE GIFT OF CULTURAL DIVERSITY IS FOR PEOPLE NOT CORPORATIONS.

We have all heard a story that begins like this: “When they came for the Jews, I stood silent, When they came for the Gypsy’s, I said nothing, Now their coming for me; who will stand up for me?”

In very few words this historical reminder of Germany’s greatest failure, reminds us of a similar experience and one of the reasons our founding fathers formed America. Our nation was to be a cohesive nation made strong, not weak, by our differences! We would respect the minorities and treat them as equals. We chose to do this for selfish reasons as well as idealistic ones. One of these selfish being our own protection, as the German story reminds us. Of course we, in our great experiment with democracy, have learned of many more reasons to be diverse.

In the poem, “I hear America Singing,” by Walt Whitman, we discover some of the magic that professional diversity affords us. Each industrious worker is seen doing his job. As Americans we should remember the different nations that joined us each bringing their unique skill. This is the key to our longevity and what has made us greater than any other nation on Earth!

Since I was a little kid, I heard stories of the Mohawks who helped build skyscrapers. In 1886, a Canadian company, building a bridge over the St. Lawrence river discovered the Mohawk’s fearless nature, when they hired them to help build the bridge. The Mohawks climbed steel like it was second nature. When a span collapsed killing 30 of their tribesmen, they came in greater numbers seeing it as a challenge not a failure.

About half of the 19th century Italian immigrants were laborers, compared to 1/3 of the Irish and Germans. Contracted out by professional labor brokers known as “Padrones” they dug tunnels, built bridges, laid tracks and helped build skyscrapers. In Chicago over 90% of the steel workers were Italians.

Each nation brought its skills and the blessings of its unique gene pool and culture. The Jews became lawyers, doctors and business owners. The Irish made our cities safe as, policemen, firemen and other city workers. The list goes on and on…

But back to the story of “When they came for the Jews…” President Eisenhower warned us to beware of the “Military Industrial Complex.” He was warning us of the dangerous political influence that corporate America had discovered was within its grasp. He was warning us that we needed to stay true to our principles by keeping the values of our founding fathers, our Judeo-Christian values.

Now nearly a quarter of a century back, corporate America was noting that it could not balance its books, when it kept its contractual obligations to its employees. For example, GM had promised to be the healthcare “god” to its workers and this expenditure was now causing them to pass along too much of this financial burden to car buyers. Many corporations were guilty of this as well, as in promising retirement plans they could not afford later. Our Government was one of the very worst of those in promising both to its employees and then passing along this unearned expense to taxpayers.

In the Clinton era, an unholy alliance was forming. Corporate money for elections, if you take the burden off the corporate books and put it on the taxpayers! Hillary could now smell election victory as the first female president; all she needed was healthcare reform.

Government should be about doing the right thing for the people but, it has become about getting re-elected and serving whatever master has the most money. This it turns out, is the corporate alliance that Ike warned us about. As a result, the medical profession, then made of loosely knit organizations of individual entrepreneurs became their target. The real issues of health care reform and efficiency were never tackled because it dealt with death and dying. Death and dying means dealing with religious values as well as philosophical ones, which are hard to face and too easy to skirt. A huge majority of healthcare expenses comes from what we call “heroic” efforts to keep the sick, dying, very old alive. This effort often ends in their suffering a degrading death at the hands of too many technicians and doctors. Witness to this is in the form of the ever growing number of Living Wills, Do Not Resuscitate Agreements and Health Care Proxys.

The doctors of America were the ideal target for corporate savings; they were small business owners and had no unions to defend them.. Over the next quarter century doctors were then bled into bankruptcy. As a result, individual doctors, practicing privately, are now a rarity. Doctor’s incomes have dropped so significantly, thanks to corporate run managed care, that the majority of doctors are part time mom’s or foreigners from impoverished nations such as India (not to say the Indians are not excellent doctors).

In every song we need a refrain that repeats, so here it comes again. “When they came for the Jews…” Are you beginning to see that pattern of history?

The corporations next discovered that they could make more money if they hired foreigners from third world nations and yet still claimed to be American companies. They claimed to be American companies to keep all the benefits of your paying for their defense with your life should they be threatened. Of course your life would not matter as they fired you and hired the workers overseas. Oh yes, they would bribe you with the short sighted benefit of low cost Chinese products,  until your bank account ran out. Soon you and your neighbors lost their jobs and were forced into low paying service jobs at Home Depot or Walmart to sell the foreign products that were putting you out of work.

More recently the government has decided that the taxpayers should pay for corporate failures by being obligated to pay for corporate financial losses and fraud.

Lets try the refrain again with a little update, “When they came for the Doctors, I stood silent, When they came for the blue collar workers, I said nothing, Now they are coming for me; who will stand up for me?”

When you laugh at the disorganized rag tag protestors of “Wall Street.” Remember you are part of America and their concerns are in many ways yours. If you are an aging Hippy or a proud Viet Nam era vet note that you are not dead yet. America is not dead yet. America gains its power from diversity not homogeneity. Before they take America, take it back! Overcome the illusions of disagreement and remember that we are all in this together and for Each Other. Corporations and Governments are soul-less institutions that have taken over the rights of God’s children.  Trump promised to bring business back to America to employ Americans and he promised to keep the influence of government for the people, by the people and of the people (not corporate bribes to congressmen).  Let’s see that Trump keeps his promises and not let the media divide Americans.

I believe our founding fathers would organize against the corporatocracy that has taken over America, what about you?  Hold Trump to his promises and stay united for all.

Ubuntu – A Computer Operating System / An Approach To World Peace!

What is Ubuntu?

Ubuntu is a free computer operating system and a philosophy of human kindness and cooperation.  It has produced a miracle in both areas that is worth understanding.   It has the potential to help establish world peace as a model for human cooperation.  Read this article and learn why!

Ubuntu as a Free Computer operating system (OS):   Only 40 paid programmers work for Canonical Ltd., which is responsible for coordinating thousands  of volunteer programmers and developers from around the world who create and maintain Ubuntu.  Ubuntu is an operating system, like windows, but many consider it far better.  Unlike Windows it is Free and most of the software you would ever need to install on it is Also Free!  For 99% of my work, I have not used windows in years; I use Ubuntu!  Just like your smartphone can download thousands of free apps for Ubuntu. Consider a few that I use that are totally free (but the equivalent for windows might cost thousands of dollars):

  • Audacity – a full music / sound recording editing studio on your desktop
  • GIMP – An image manipulation program that lets you create and modify pictures like Photoshop
  • Browsers: Chrome, Opera or FireFox and many others
  • Libreoffice – An office suite much like Microsoft Office but completely free
  • Rhythmbox – an excellent music organizer and player
  • BackUps –  With BackUps you can copy your current computer’s music, images, programs and settings and in Re-Create it on ANY NEW COMPUTER effortlessly!
  • Here are six things that Ubuntu does better than windows

How is it possible that thousands of brilliant programmers worldwide donate their time, skills and knowledge for free for you?

Ubuntu is sponsored by the UK-based company Canonical Ltd., owned by South African entrepreneur Mark Shuttleworth. Canonical generates revenue by selling technical support and services related to Ubuntu, while the operating system itself is entirely free of charge. The Ubuntu project is entirely committed to the principles of free software development; people are encouraged to use free software, improve it, and pass it on (its code is available so anyone can modify and improve it and share it anew)!   In other words,  other than a small financially self sustaining leadership group, Canonical,  Ubuntu is a miracle of human cooperation by thousands of gifted people across the world who work as a team to improve the quality of human life for all of us!

Pictured here to the right of this text  is some of the team at a gathering for volunteer developers.

Ubuntu as a way of life — Archbishop Desmond Tutu offered a definition of Ubuntu in a 1999 book:  A person with Ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, based from a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed.

Tutu further explained Ubuntu in 2008:

One of the sayings in our country is Ubuntu is the essence of being human. Ubuntu speaks particularly about the fact that you can’t exist as a human being in isolation. It speaks about our interconnectedness. You can’t be human all by yourself, and when you have this quality – Ubuntu – you are known for your generosity. We think of ourselves far too frequently as just individuals, separated from one another, whereas you are connected and what you do affects the whole World. When you do well, it spreads out; it is for the whole of humanity. The philosophy of Ubuntu has influenced many world wide.  For example: The Peace Project,   The Peace Education Project and there is more to come.

Human Cooperation

As human beings, the Judeo-Christian bible reminds us that we struggle with two forces.  One is the physical desire to selfishly seek wealth and power that does not create value for society (such as might come from rebuilding a city or creating jobs) while the other side is the more spiritual side that recognizes the Creator’s plan for all of humanity to live in harmony and peace.   From the Judeo-Christian viewpoint we recognize Abraham as the near “perfect man” who taught us how to live in harmony by example of the way he lived.  Ubuntu like Abraham, does not deny the accumulation of wealth and power as long as it is used for the betterment of all.  Could we ever achieve that goal?  The stories of Ubuntu, as shared above, hint at this possibility.
It is always difficult to educate people while keeping them awake. Years of college has attuned me timelesssearchto identifying people who are sitting upright in chairs with open eyes and still in deep sleep.

It is far better to entertain, as Walt Disney said, with the hopes of educating then to educate with the hope of entertaining.  Much of my Sci-fi,  Sci-fantasy writings deal with questions of the potential for people living by the principles of Ubuntu. I explore, through adventure and imagination, what could happen if we learn to live in harmony (Ubuntu) and if not. I am constantly reminded as I write of the potential for human harmony as all my writing, research, social communication etc is done with the reliable results of the people who believe in Ubuntu, on an Ubuntu powered computer.

Religion Is What Keeps The Poor From Murdering The Rich

Napoleon Bonaparte said “Religion is what keeps the poor from murdering the rich.”  Is that so today? Why did Napoleon believe this? Perhaps it was because he was thinking that the church was wealthy and the people poor?  This was indeed so back then and is pretty much true now.  The creation of disproportionate wealth was also true for  kings and other dictators then and now. Was his statement based on his historical understanding of the tenuous position that ruthless, selfish rulers had historically often created for themselves?

He certainly knew that the poor vastly outnumbered the rich and if they truly became aware of  their potential power, they could  possibly  take from the rich whatever they wanted.

I wonder if Napoleon would be surprised at the events of today?   Would it surprise him to see that madmen,  blinded by religious fervor and the rhetoric of power hungry clerics, use the power of  our modern day and ancient weapons to slaughter the common and innocent (not the wealthy)  in the name of what they call try to call “god.”

Would it amaze him to hear empowered leaders of nation states deny the very history their fathers had experienced? Liars are a common lot in history. But revisionists, daring to deny the history of their very fathers generation, in an era of instant communications, takes the art of lying to a new height.

I wish it was only the words of  Ahmadinejad  that made fools of his country and his fellow citizens in denying the holocaust, in recent history.  The videos of the Nuremberg trials and the newsreels  they showed,  during testimony,  are still fresh in the minds of free men (perhaps not the Millennials who appear to have missed a lot in their history classes). Unfortunately lying to your people is not just an Iranian phenomena.  Clinton, of course,  did not “have sex” in the oval office.  Nixon had his view of the story.  Bush may have intentionally exaggerated the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Those average people who live in North Korea, believe they have the best quality of life in the world, I am told. The mind police make sure this is so.

Perhaps, today we must try to assess the size of the lie and seek comfort in this distinction, though I find this personally unsatisfactory.  Possibly,  this may  have meaning for some.  Man is not perfect and when confronted with the public evisceration of  his ego, it is likely politicians, whose self esteem are buoyed up on the seas of opinion, will seek to lie (and for lots less than ego disembowelment).

Clinton may have lied about his sex life,  for which we would not seek to have him executed. Ahmadinejad however lied about the history of the most brutal destruction of 12 million people, that the main perpetrators themselves do not deny!  Well…. the Japanese have trouble with admitting to their mass rape stations they happily called “comfort stations.”   The Iranian people don’t have it so bad economically and so don’t want to lose what they have!  They have the profits of oil.  To rise up and take back their nation which is now controlled  by liars and religious fanatics however requires need and belief in what you can achieve.  I think the need is lacking, from their perspective, and perhaps we have “fallen from grace” as a role model to follow.  Just look at the pathetic quality of the candidates we have to vote for in the upcoming election! There are some really good liars here too.

Perhaps it is Iranian religion or the fear of  others who they do not know at their mosque,  that terrorists-feeforuse-googlekeeps the people from removing  their dictatorial and  fanatical  leadership.  Communist Russians feared expression when they did not know who they were talking to, so they learned double speak or did not speak out at all.  On the other hand, what model would Iranians seek if they did rise up and remove their leadership?  When we vanquished the iron fisted terror and torture of Saddam Hussein did that lead to a better land? Did these vastly different religious groups decide to work together or did the power vacuum create chaos?

Is our current national evolution and today’s American leadership a model,  something that everyone worldwide should be striving for?  In my experience of 70 years, we have certainly lost much of what made America great!  Because of hope and greater freedom,  I for one would not choose to live anywhere else; however, for people unaccustomed to more free choices and dreams of success, it might lead to chaos as we have seen in Iraq and elsewhere. I recall going to college 50 years ago and seeing this first hand. The first year sorted out who would stay. Children from homes where parents ruled with an iron fist and a leather strap, went crazy without that discipline. They were out drunk,  having sex, without thought of consequences, and rarely studying with any regularity, many failed and dropped out quickly.  Those who came from liberal homes, where parents let them learn self discipline (learn from their own mistakes) were no different at college than at home, for the most part they did just fine.  They did not require an authoritarian parent watching over them!

So back to the original question. What keeps the poor from murdering the rich?  I don’t see that religion is the answer, though it may play a part in it.  I think a good part of  it is the belief  that the poor have that they don’t have it so bad,  the belief that it could be worse in the hands of other leaders and the belief in whatever history they choose to believe in to support their chosen stagnation.  A great example of this is what Al Capone said after his conviction:  When convicted of heinous crimes, Al Capone said,  “All I did was try to provide the lighter pleasures for my countrymen and for that I live the life of a hunted man!”  He believed this, because it supported his ego, his belief that he was the “good guy.”  I think we accept pathetic leadership because we don’t believe we can do better and neither do they.  We all deceive ourselves, at least today, because that is how we gratify our egos!

One of the biggest problems today is the same that existed in the past, despite the power of hank-paulson-labeledforreuseinstant communication.  People don’t believe they know the truth,  they just pick what truth they want to believe. With that kind of truth and little self belief in empowerment powerful people can do anything they wish and get away with it.  They can even make us think that this is as it has been and how it should be.  If we want to keep the little we have carefully hidden under our mattress we don’t want change!  After all If  AIG and Goldman Sachs are still the financial “hereos” on Wall St. any lie will do if well presented. Hank Paulson helped our country fall into hundreds of billions of dollars of debt and yet he is still a free man.  I don’t think religion is protecting the wealthy or the corporate cronyism of our corrupt congress and corporations,  it is more like disinformation (the quick version of revisionism) and a fear of losing the last grains of wheat in our grimy clutching hands.

Even more powerful than disinformation, there is the modern version of “Let them eat cake.”

SONY DSC

This version is meant to be literally true as its power was early on recognized by Shakespeare, “Caesar: Let me have men about me that are fat, Sleek-headed men and such as sleep a-nights. Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look, He thinks too much; such men are dangerous.”  There is nothing like a welfare check to keep the “masses” in control.  Religious conviction is the hope of reward but reward is the hope in today’s deceitful politicians.

Is It Time For A Constitutional Convention?

Apparently there may be enough states which have voted for a Constitutional Convention to begin such a process!  The question is do you really want to put that much more power in the hands of  what many Americans call  paid for “scum” and greed driven people that call themselves congressmen?  Even if the Federal Congressmen were bound to the issues defined in the Conventional Call could we define such a platform at the State Level or is our country too diverse in its fragmented egocentricity to agree to some carefully chosen fundamentals?  There are a lot of questions to answer before rushing headlong into what may seem like opportunity and turn out to be otherwise.

consitutional convention

The federal laws describing this process are vague, according to Fox News; but,  it seems likely that the mechanism allowing 2/3 of the State’s Legislature’s  to call one would imply that states demanding the convention would decide the issues for Amendment and not the currently  corporate funded congress.  At least under the concept of States Rights, which was created to  protect the states from the abuse of a Federal Government.  At this point it seems a bit of conjecture to decide how such a convention’s empowerment would be structured, its responsibility to states and if we could agree on a platform.  It is however hard to deny that being able to restructure congress and reduce the usurpation of power by the executive and judicial,  to better serve the people equitably,  does not have its appeal.

All over the Internet you can find plans for a 28th amendment.  Many of these drafts have a lot in common. Perhaps before we call a Constitutional Convention, if this is possible for the states,  we need a clear platform of goals and a plan for demanding its execution.  And, who does not like the word “execution”  when thinking of congressmen?

When I first received an email asking me to share the concept and motivate others to join in a call for a Constitutional Convention, I thought this might be an exciting opportunity especially since it appears so many other states have already voted for it.

Then on second thought, the cartoon so well designed above,  gave me pause for reflection.  For a while I have wondered if the salvation of America could come from a military Coup D’eta?  But forget our military, they serve mindlessly and at the top are well “paid for” like congress.  Corporations rule, for now; however, even in a world so controlled as Roller Ball imagined,  in its creative visionary movie back in ’75, there is opportunity for people who believe in freedom.

If this is an opportunity to give power back to the people and end the rule of corporations in America, lets think this process through before taking action.

  1. Can States call a Constitutional Convention?
  2. Can we agree on a well defined platform to giver power back to the people and stop congressional corruption?
  3. Can we control the outcome so that congress serves us rather then severing us from empowerment?
  4. Can we organize to do this?  Considering the “Arab Spring,”  why not!

CAIR – Sharia In America

The Council on American-Islamic Relations, (CAIR),  is a name you will hear on National Public Radio,  they are a sponsor.  CAIR  funds a “more accepting” viewpoint of Sharia in America; but do you want that for America, as an American?  Is this, as some fear,  another way for terrorists to chip away at America’s foundations and slowly destroy America?

CAIR claims to represent Islam in North America and to protect “Muslim civil rights” yet their is  proof that CAIR is supporting Islamic terrorists, and that CAIR was established in America by those who wish to harm our country while using our constitution for their protection.

A little history of CAIR:   Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBi) recorded evidence places CAIR founders Omar Ahmad and Nihad Awad at a Philadelphia meeting of the radical Muslim Brotherhood’s “Palestine Committee.” According to the FBI, “all attendees in the meeting are Hamas members and sympathizers.” An Investigative Project on Terrorism report on the HLF trial reveals that FBI agent Lara Burns testified that CAIR’s Omar Ahmad was “a leader of the Palestinian committee”.

Quotes from Ahmad and Nihad at the Philadelphia Meeting:   Omar Ahmad  talking with with Shukri Abu Baker:

  • Baker: “I swear by Allah that war is deception,”…“We are fighting our enemy with a kind heart … Deceive, camouflage, pretend that you’re leaving while you’re walking that way. Deceive your enemy …”
  • Ahmad: “I agree with you. Like they say, politics is a completion of war”

It should be noted that in a 2003 deposition, Omar Ahmad stated that he “can’t recall attending this meeting”. Nihad Awad, also in a 2003 deposition, said he couldn’t remember if he attended the Philadelphia Meeting either, even though he was an active and vocal participant at the event. The FBI revealed that HLF paid the airline tickets and hotel bills for Omar Ahmad’s attendance of the Philadelphia meeting. The Holy Land Foundation also provided CAIR with a “donation” check for $5000 in October of 1994.

FIGHTING FOR SHARIA AGAINST AMERICAN LEGAL VALUES:  When 70% of Oklahoma’s citizens voted for a constitutional amendment to prevent what they saw as the destruction of the American Legal system,  CAIR filed suit!  The enacted Oklahoma amendment in part reads: “The courts shall not look to the legal precepts of other nations or cultures. Specifically, the courts shall not consider international law or sharia law.”

Muneer Awad, a Muslim who heads the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Oklahoma, sued to block the law, saying it violated his First Amendment rights.

Muslim Civil Rights?   Is CAIR fighting for Muslim Civil Rights or is it an attempt to overthrow the system that has made America,  what it is and what we value?   I believe that Muslims have the right to worship in freedom as we all do in America today.  After all,  they came here for the freedom we offered. I would fight for their freedoms as I would fight for ours.  On the other hand,  what they came here for IS HERE.  What they ran from IS STILL THERE.  Why fight to change the system you came here to enjoy and try to make it more like the one you ran from?

When the Spanish come to America,  from Mexico,  Guatemala,  Ecuador, etc. I am at first glance, offended that they do not seek to learn English and seek to cling to newspapers, TV and Radio stations that broadcast in Spanish.   I know a little about history and it has been a pattern of  Italians, Jews and Germans who came here earlier.  It took the next generation to break “free”  of the  language barriers and the cultural fears.   On the other hand,  these “foreigners”  did not choose to remake the legal system of our country to suit their religious laws.  They came here and struggled with combining the best of what they believed with the best of what we had to offer so they could live here in peace and prosperity.   We all benefited.

I have no doubt that there is a cultural richness we would lose without the coming contributions from  those of Islamic faith who are making America their home.  Undoubtedly it will in some way be a contribution of their experience with the best of their cultural heritage and perhaps some of what Sharia has to offer.  American’s are open to richness,  cultural diversity and the blessings of a multicultural society.  American’s however resent having someone use the courts and legal systems to force their values on America.   The way to win American’s to your side is

to prove the value of what you have;  Americans will adopt it on their own.  Americans are sold on things that work, not beaten into submission by a dictatorial system.  Similarly,  going to court to defeat the will of the people of Oklahoma, because you have the money and the “mouth-pieces” will create the backlash it has and should.

Should we  judge CAIR by its founding fathers?   It is certainly a concern for most of us.  I would rather judge my Islamic neighbors by they contributions to America. I would rather see my countrymen adopting the richness that our new neighbors bring to America because we see its value. At this point in its history,  I believe that CAIR is hurting more American Islamic followers  than it is helping.  Can those of moderate Islamic faith contribute to and become part of America.  We shall see. I don’t think it will be because of CAIR when they succeed.

Who Is Ibrahim?

In my story,  TIMELESS SEARCH,  Ibrahim is a major character who is  of  Arabic descent.   Ibrahim is a brilliant mathematician and student of Islamic Law.  He is very tall, powerful,  ethical and influential.  He is also part of the team that will determine the future of all life in out universe.

Ibrahim faces a challenge which many of us in America have to deal with when relating to Muslims,  he has to deal with what he has learned from Islamic Law, Sharia,  vs what is backbone of our American law and society,  the Judeo-Christian Heritage.

For those of you who have written to me and asked why I created Ibrahim;  I believe this  story could not exist without him.  Just as the story of the evolution of our world today will not be told without reference to Islam, so my story could not have existed,  without Ibrahim and Islam.

Many years ago,  I had the opportunity to know two brothers who were students of Islam,  much like my character, Ibrahim.   They had both memorized the Quaran and would frequently review it between them to keep in memory.  I asked them questions about the roots of the Islamic system of ethics (how it might compare to our 10 commandments)  but I was disappointed with the lack of a clear answer.   I have yet to receive one but hope to in the future.  In the meantime,  Ibrahim is my closest answer as he struggles with the challenge it has caused in my mind.   As an example of the dilemma  that Ibrahim had to face here is one question that arises:

Consider the law “Thou Shalt Not Murder!”

  • The 10 Commandments states:    Thou Shalt Not Murder
  • In the Quaran you may find:  “And do not kill anybody that Allah has prohibited except when you have a right to kill” (6:151)
Now I am not claiming any expertise in the Quaran so this is taken from Islamic sites that do claim to be authoritative.  The Judeo-Christian version also is careful not to say “thou shalt not kill”  but rather thou shalt not murder.  This is because to murder is premeditated and to kill may be defensive or accidental.   How we interpret this commandment is of great importance to how we survive as a civilized and spiritual people.

In my story,  TIMELESS SEARCH,  I take this question of  great importance one step further.   But I will leave that for you to discover in  TIMELESS SEARCH.

People Power!

About 20 years ago I created a BBS (Something Like a mini AOL) that ran from my house to the world via 4 phone lines, like me, many others thought this new media would change the world.

I called it “People Power BBS”  because I believed what Ross Perot said,  that Modem Democracy would change the world. … it may be that it just took a little longer and happened in another way.
It seemed that technology would be the driving force for change in our world’s future.  All over the world,  nerdy people like me, where linking communities to

communities in the miracle of overnight email.  We called it FidoNet.  Hundreds of users were dialing into my BBS day and night to reach out and talk with others all across the world.  We then created US Political Network (US Pol-Net) to get people talking about the real issues of running our country.  As it turns out it was very much too early in the history of technological adoption to do what we dreamed of.   Even more importantly it may just be that it is not the technology but the concepts of non-violent protest that the technology enhances that really makes the change.

Srđa Popović was one of the founders and key organizers with the Serbian student nonviolent resistance group Otpor! Their nonviolent campaign to unseat Serbian president Slobodan Milošević met with success in October 2000, when hundreds of thousands of protestors converged upon and took over the Serbian Parliament, effectively ending Milošević’s rule. Srđa says that 2011 is already “A Very Bad Year For Very Bad Guys” and it is worth understanding how people power, or the real power behind the on-going dramatic events in the Arab Spring and beyond actually works. This can help us predict events and scenarios not only in the on-going Arab struggles, but also in places like Burma and Belarus.
Watch this short video and see what it inspires in your dreams.

Court: Oklahoma ban on Islamic law can be challenged | NewsOK.com

Is Sharia Law or International Law — coming to your local court? – If this Muslim has his way it may be!

In Oklahoma a state constitutional amendment was passed by 70% of the voters.  Its goal was to stop the use of other legal systems as the basis of court decisions.  Mentioned as examples were International Law and Muslim Sharia Law.  We in America DEFINE how we live and who we are as a people by the Laws Of Our Nation and the legal system of our courts.  Consider them the programming language that makes our country run!   If you change this, you re-make America in someone else’s image.  I have seen some of what Shari law looks like,  watching women  being stoned to death (see the picture to the right).  Even if this is not “representative”  of Sharia,  I do not want it as I do not want to change America.  The Muslims came here, to America,  for safety, peace, freedom and justice that they did not have in their “old countries.”   Now some of them want to make our country into the one they ran from!   If they really want Sharia law,  they can choose to go back to the country they ran from, because of its laws, violence and lack of freedom.  If they want to live here then they need to embrace America and help strengthen it as  most of us are doing and not try to chip away at our foundations through court decisions!  Using the very freedoms they came here for to destroy this freedom makes no sense,  unless the real purpose for coming here is to undermine and destroy America!

The decision the Oklahoma Supreme Court needs to make regards the protection of American Values.  Consider this quote from our national constitution:

The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States. A Person charged in any State with Treason, Felony, or other Crime, who shall flee from Justice, and be found in another State, shall on Demand of the  executive Authority of the State from which he fled, be delivered up, to be removed to the State having Jurisdiction of the Crime.

Changing the state laws in America, from those which define us,  to include Sharia has far reaching consequences, as explained above.

Furthermore in our Bill Of Rights (The First Amendment) we guarantee the freedom of religion but not the imposition of any other system of law arising from religion or political decision making:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
